With the Preds' win over the Blues on Thursday, Nashville climbed out of last place in the Central Division. The Predators host Montreal for the first time since Feb. 22, 2007, and will try to grab a sixth win in their last eight, while the Canadiens will try to secure two straight wins for the first time in three weeks. Saturday's game also marks the first time Predators defenseman Francis Bouillon plays against his former Montreal team, where he spent the better part of nine seasons.

With the 4-2 win in Phoenix on Thursday, the Canadiens won just their third game in the last eight, but more importantly Carey Price picked up his first regulation win of the season and the Habs got their power play going. Coming in with one of the lowest-scoring power plays in the League this season, Montreal converted both of its opportunities against the Coyotes with goals from Mike Cammalleri and Glen Metropolit.

After giving up an early first-period goal to the Blues on Thursday, the Predators rebounded with three straight tallies and outshot St. Louis 37-22. Jordin Tootoo, who missed the first 13 games of the season with an injury, scored the unassisted game-winner. "We stayed persistent for 60 minutes and it paid off," coach Barry Trotz said. "It was a good effort, especially on the road."

The Canucks will be concluding a five-game, 10-day road trip when they meet the Avalanche at Pepsi Center for the second time this season. Vancouver is 1-3-0 so far and has dropped three in a row following a 3-1 loss to Detroit on Thursday. The Canucks had better get used to traveling, as they'll embark on an historic six-week sabbatical away from home beginning Jan.

Goalie Roberto Luongo was pushed into duty earlier than expected on Wednesday after missing six games with a rib fracture. Luongo saw his first action since Oct. 27 when he replaced an ineffective Raycroft (4 goals allowed on 13 shots) after the first period of a 6-1 loss at St. Louis. He looked comfortable, yielding two power-play goals on 17 shots. On Thursday, he started and was relatively sharp in a 26-save loss to the Red Wings.

Since starting the season 10-1-2, the Avalanche have come down to earth a bit, going 2-3-1 over their last six. Perhaps a new jersey will do the trick -- the Avs will unveil their new third jerseys on Saturday against the Canucks. The new sweaters have a dominant blue color, unlike the mainly-burgundy regular home jerseys.
