Four days after defeating an overmatched squad from Grenada by a margin of four goals, the United States Men's National Team faces its toughest test of its Gold Cup group campaign when it takes on Honduras in RFK Stadium. Bob Bradley's side has had good success in the Washington D.C. venue -- most recently a 6-1 beatdown of Cuba in World Cup qualifying that saw Jose Francisco Torres see his first action in the Red, White, and Blue -- and should leave the U.S. capital with six points from two matches.
The United States looks to rebound against Honduras after a 1-3 loss against Costa Rica on Wednesday. The US is still in good shape for an automatic qualification spot but needs to earn points at home matches. Michael Bradley will miss the match due to yellow cards and striker Brian Ching will miss his second straight game with a hamstring injury. Conor Casey has been called up to the team due to Ching’s injury. Honduras as not qualified for a World Cup since 1982 and has a roster largely of Honduran League players along with Toronto FC star Amado Guevera. The Americans have the deeper and more talented roster and should have the clear advantage at home.
